The Office of Paranormal Investigations

Parapsychology is the scientific study of phenomena and experiences that are ostensibly paranormal in nature. It deals with a variety of subjects, including – but not limited to – telepathy, psychokinesis, hauntings, near-death experiences, out of body experiences, the survival of consciousness, and precognition.

The term “ghost” covers a variety of experiences in many cultures. In general, it is used to mean a spirit or some form of a person or animal after she or he has died. However, the word is also sometimes applied to any figure of a person or animal experienced in any location when the person or animal is not physically present. There is rarely a distinction made as to whether the “ghost” is that of a living or deceased being, or if it is a conscious entity or simply a ‘recording’ of the past.

The Office of Paranormal Investigations – or OPI, for short – is a network of professionals – investigators, researchers, consultants, authors, historians, educators, etc. – all operating in the field of parapsychology. Our network of investigators provides support and answers to individuals, families, or groups experiencing perceived paranormal activity in their home or business. Our consultants are available to provide guidance to authorities, the Media, businesses, psychic practitioners, and various other communities on current investigative methodologies, research, and procedures. We seek to improve the public image of parapsychology as a science, while providing aid and understanding to those that may be dealing with unexplained phenomena.

All professionals operating on our network are vetted by the administrative staff. Students of the Rhine Education Center that pass the Field Investigations course simply need to fill out the application here.
